Why Food Insecurity Happens?

Structural Drivers

Food insecurity is usually not about food preferences or "bad budgeting". It is driven by housing costs, low wages, transportation barriers, childcare costs, and uneven access to affordability grocery options.

Health & Daily Impact

Food insecurity affects physical health, mental health, and school/work performance. It can force families to choose between food and medication, rent, utilities, or transportation especially during illness or unexpected expenses.

What does & doesn't help

Short-term help like food pantries matter, but lasting progress requires community partnership and policy-level solutions. You can help by supporting effective local organizations, reducing stigma, sharing accurate information, and advocating for evidence-based programs.
